My name is Alli Rathfon, and I am studying dystopian literature. The purpose of this website is to take a closer look at at how reiterated concepts become societal truths with constant repetition.
Consequently, this site will show how Friedrich Nietzsche's theory on the reiteration and repetition of metaphors. Through this 3 week term of Dystopian Literature, we learned about the function of dystopia. Dystopia is a lens looking forward to an imagined state where there is great injustice all around. A dystopia is useful because it warns us of what is possible in the future if we continue on the path we are going.

I have studied dystopia through a focus on the reiteration of concepts that prop up institutions of power, for instance, religion.
In this website, I examine Nietzsche’s ideas on the reiteration of language and ideology through the book The Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler and George Miller’s movie Mad Max: Fury Road. In particular, I look at how language props up dominant religions that are used to perpetuate power.
